Size & Shape: Small to medium, elongated oval with a gracefully pointed tip.

Taste: Perfectly balanced — rich sweetness with a subtle, refreshing tang. Layered and complex.

Flesh: Tender, velvety, almost entirely fibre-free. Vibrant orange inside.

Origin: Multan & Punjab belt, Pakistan (originally from Malihabad, 18th century).

Best For: Fresh eating, mango pulp, juices, lassi, and gifting.

📜 A note on origin: Dasheri was first discovered in the 18th century in a village near Lucknow, and so prized that the Nawab of that region had it heavily guarded — the original mother tree still stands today, and its fruits are still sent to the Nawab's living descendants each season. Over centuries, it spread across the subcontinent and found a second home in the fertile soils of Pakistan's Punjab, where it thrives with its own distinct character.

There are mangoes that simply taste good, and then there are mangoes with a story so rich that the first bite feels like something earned. Dastoor-e-Nawab is the latter. For over three hundred years, Dasheri has been the mango of the refined — discovered as a chance seedling in 18th-century Lucknow, guarded like a state secret by the Nawab, and eventually carried across the subcontinent by those who knew what they had found. It is a mango that has outlasted empires and still commands loyalty from those who have tasted it even once.

What makes it stand apart is balance. Not the one-note sweetness of lesser varieties, but a layered experience — a honeyed richness that opens up, followed by a clean, faintly tangy finish that leaves you reaching for the next slice before the first has settled.
