Most mangoes are gone by July. The markets thin out, the season feels like it is winding down, and families begin to accept that it is over for another year. Then Kala Chaunsa arrives — unhurried, darker, more intense — and reminds everyone that the best things in life are worth the wait. Shab-e-Chaunsa, the Night Chaunsa, is the season's final act, and it does not disappoint.
If Safaid Chaunsa is summer's gentle sweetness, Kala Chaunsa is its full-throated declaration. Richer in colour, deeper in flavour, with a sweetness that lingers long after the last bite. This is the mango for the quiet evening — the one you save for when the house has settled, and you can sit and truly taste it. Order it knowing it will not be available much longer. The season ends, and it takes Shab-e-Chaunsa with it.
"It arrives late, leaves early, and is never forgotten."
How to Handle the Box
How to Handle the Box
- Keep the box at room temperature when it arrives — Kala Chaunsa needs time to fully develop.
- Open the box and allow air to circulate — do not seal it back up.
- The skin will deepen in colour as it ripens — from olive-green to a dark, burnished gold.
- Allow 2–4 days at room temperature. When the skin is yielding to a gentle touch, and the aroma is rich — it is ready.
- Chill for 2 hours before eating. Once ripe, consume within 3 days for the deepest flavour.
