It is small enough to hold in a closed fist. And yet, the moment it ripens, it fills an entire room with a fragrance so distinct, so impossibly sweet, that you will stop whatever you are doing. Anwar Ratol has been Pakistan's best-kept secret for centuries — a variety so prized that it was a fixture of Mughal court tables, chosen by emperors who had access to anything they wished, and still chose this. Its season lasts barely a few weeks. Demand always exceeds supply.
This is not an everyday mango. This is the one you serve when the guests matter, when the occasion calls for something that needs no explanation. Place one in someone's hand and watch their expression when the first bite hits — that is the Anwar Ratol effect. Our reserve boxes are limited each season. If you know, you know. And if you are discovering it for the first time — consider this your initiation.
"Favoured by Mughal emperors. Available for a few weeks a year. Reserve yours before the season decides for you."
How to Handle the Box
How to Handle the Box
- Keep the box at room temperature the moment it arrives — Anwar Ratol ripens quickly and rewards attention.
- Open the box and inspect gently — these are small but delicate. Handle with care.
- If firm, leave at room temperature for 1–2 days only. This variety does not need long.
- The sign is unmistakable: a concentrated, almost floral sweetness that reaches you before you reach the mango.
- Chill for 1 hour and serve immediately. Once ripe, consume within 2 days — the flavour is at its peak briefly and perfectly.
